Evelyn Elizabeth Barile passed away on August 6, 2023 at her home in Fresno surrounded by the laughter and music of her family from all corners of the US. Born in 1929, Evelyn was deeply committed to her growing family and a staunch liberal and feminist dedicated to making the world a better place. Her presence was a calming and brilliant light in the lives of all those she touched. Whether attending Democratic Club meetings, helping out at her daughter's shop, The Brass Unicorn, or serving as a substitute teacher and parks commissioner in the Fresno area during the 80s, Evelyn's vast knowledge and kind and welcoming nature left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Believing in the value of all humans, Evelyn was committed to staying informed about the latest global developments and was up-to-date on important issues around the globe. Evelyn also had a passion for holistic health, which she pursued diligently. Her dedication to maintaining her well-being allowed her to thrive and practice Tai Chi and Yoga well into her 90s. She imparted these deeply-seeded beliefs to her extended family and friends, supporting their education and endeavors through both words and deeds. She connected daily with family and was always current on our lives and ready to impart words of wisdom. Evelyn is survived by her daughters Suzanne Manning and Kathryn Barile, along with her son-in-law James Manning. She also leaves behind her granddaughters: Allessandria Polizzi, Nicole Manning, Jennifer Ziemer, Tara Barile, and Katja Barile, as well as her grandsons-in-law Kevin McClanahan, Jason Jones, and Robert Ziemer. Evelyn's legacy of love and compassion will continue through her great-grandchildren: Emily Hicks, Abigail Hamma, Gillian McClanahan, Kaitlin Hamma, Carter Hicks, Sullivan McClanahan, Breanna Ziemer, and Nicholas Ziemer. Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dominic Barile, who passed away in 2016. Together, they will be interred at the Yosemite Gateway Better Place Forest at the meadow's edge under a lovely ponderosa pine. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at her home on her birthday, October 8, 2023 at 2 PM. Please join her family and friends as they gather to honor and remember this remarkable woman. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Evelyn's memory to Women for Women International. Forever in our hearts, Evelyn will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, humanitarianism, and ability to bring joy to those around her. May her spirit continue to inspire us all to be the best humans we can be.
